Six-year-old Lian Yunzhi has broken the women’s Rubik’s Cube average world record twice in just three days, becoming the first female competitor to average under 4.5 seconds.
Lian first set a record with an average solve time of 4.52 seconds during a World Cube Association competition in Wuhan, China. Just three days later, she competed again in Guangzhou and improved her own record to 4.27 seconds.
In official competitions, the average is calculated across five solves. The fastest and slowest attempts are removed, and the remaining three times are averaged.
Before Lian’s record-breaking performances, the women’s average record stood at 4.68 seconds, set by Qixian Cao earlier in 2026.
The overall 3x3x3 average record remains 3.71 seconds, held by Xuanyi Geng, while Teodor Zajder holds the single-solve record at 2.76 seconds.
At only six years old, Lian has already established herself among the fastest competitive speedcubers in the world.
