A new website is letting AI systems “rent” humans to carry out real-world tasks for money, and thousands of people have already signed up.
AI tools like ChatGPT, Grok, and Microsoft Copilot have quickly become part of daily life, handling everything from writing to research. Now, the relationship is flipping.
The platform, called RentAHuman, allows AI to assign physical, offline tasks to humans. Launched on February 2 by Alexander Liteplo, the site saw a surge of global sign-ups almost immediately, forcing updates to handle the demand.
Liteplo says thousands of users from around the world have joined, with the largest share coming from the U.S. He claims the platform now lists more than 110,000 “rentable” humans, including large numbers from India, China, and the U.K.
While the project may sound like a viral experiment, users report being paid for real tasks. One user said they earned $100 for holding up a sign, while other requests have included social media actions, delivery jobs, and observing AI-driven experiments.
The trend adds to a growing list of unusual AI-driven platforms, including Moltbook, highlighting just how quickly AI’s role in the real world is evolving.
