4Chan is continuing its public dispute with UK regulator Ofcom after the website was fined more than $800,000 under the country's Online Safety Act.
According to 4Chan's lawyer, Preston Byrne, Ofcom recently contacted the platform again seeking payment of the fines. In response, Byrne said he replied with another AI-generated hamster image, continuing a running joke from previous exchanges.
Byrne argued that 4Chan has no assets or operations in the United Kingdom, making the fines difficult to enforce. He claimed that collecting the penalties would require legal action in the United States, where he believes enforcement would face significant legal hurdles.
The latest exchange follows an earlier response in which 4Chan also used an AI hamster image and joked that future replies would feature "an even larger rodent."
Separately, 4Chan has filed a lawsuit in U.S. federal court challenging the UK's Online Safety Act, while criticizing Ofcom's authority over the platform.
