Amazon set a new delivery speed record in 2025, completing more than 13 billion same-day or next-day deliveries worldwide for the third year in a row.
In the US, Prime members received over 8 billion fast deliveries, representing a more than 30% increase compared to 2024. Groceries and everyday essentials made up around half of those orders, according to company figures.
Amazon said it delivered a record 4 billion grocery and essential items the same or next day across the US and expanded free fast delivery to over 4,000 smaller cities and towns. The company noted that repeat purchases were highest for everyday items, while the number of monthly rural customers nearly doubled.
As delivery speed becomes increasingly important in retail, Amazon’s expansion has intensified competition with Walmart, which relies on its network of more than 4,600 US stores to provide same-day delivery to most households and continues to invest in ultra-fast options such as drone delivery.
Amazon has also been expanding its rapid delivery services globally, including its Amazon Now program, which offers delivery in under 30 minutes in markets like India, Mexico, and the UAE, with tests underway in the US and UK.
The company has restructured its logistics network with larger same-day warehouses, new upstream distribution hubs, and micro-fulfillment centers inside selected Whole Foods locations.
Amazon reported about $67 billion in online store sales in its most recent quarterly earnings.
