Amazon tests 10-minute delivery to monetize speed

Amazon is testing a new 24/7 delivery model that splits the day into 10 time windows, introducing premium-paid slots for faster shipping as it looks to turn delivery speed into a revenue stream.

The system expands beyond traditional delivery hours, creating a continuous cycle of orders with options like 45-minute and 2.5-hour delivery available for an added fee, marking a shift from fast shipping as a standard to a paid upgrade.

Although the model is expected to increase short-term costs, Amazon is betting that higher order volumes and delivery fees will offset expenses and make speed a meaningful profit driver.

The initiative is currently being tested in select U.S. locations, with the company evaluating customer response before deciding on a wider rollout, as it continues to invest in more precise delivery timing and greater convenience.
