Anthropic filed a lawsuit against the United States Department of Defense on Monday, seeking to stop a ban imposed after the government labeled the company a national security “supply chain risk.”

The case marks the latest escalation in a growing conflict between the AI startup and the Defense Department. In a blog post, Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei said the company would fight the decision in court, arguing the designation is normally used for foreign adversaries.

Amodei also said discussions with the Pentagon have resumed in hopes of reviving a potential military contract. Meanwhile, OpenAI secured its own agreement with the government last week, a move that sparked criticism internally and led to the resignation of robotics leader Caitlin Kalinowski.

Both Anthropic and OpenAI have drawn attention following comments from Jensen Huang, who suggested Nvidia may slow its multibillion-dollar investments in AI startups.

Separately, Nvidia has reportedly stopped producing China-bound H200 chips amid tightening technology restrictions between Washington and Beijing. At the same time, Apple announced several new products, including a low-cost MacBook Neo, an entry-level iPhone 17e, two updated iPad Air models, and new MacBook Air and MacBook Pro laptops powered by M5 chips.
