Apple has unveiled the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, introducing major upgrades to their cameras, performance and battery life.
The new models feature a 48MP main camera with variable aperture, allowing the lens to adjust automatically based on lighting and depth of field. Users can also manually control aperture, shutter speed and white balance through new Pro camera settings.
Both phones are powered by Apple’s A20 Pro chip, which the company says delivers up to 40% faster GPU performance than the A19 Pro and twice the AI processing power. Apple has also redesigned the cooling system to improve sustained performance.
Battery life has been extended, with eSIM-only models offering up to 36 hours of video playback on the iPhone 18 Pro and 45 hours on the Pro Max. The Pro can also reach 50% charge in around 15 minutes with wired charging.
Other changes include a smaller Dynamic Island, support for displaying three Live Activities at once and Apple’s new Reference Image feature, which creates signed sensor data to help verify whether a photo has been edited.
The phones will be available in black, silver, glacier and a new burgundy finish. Pre-orders open September 12, ahead of the September 18 launch.
