Washington, DC commuters faced nearly two hours of disruption after a suspicious electronic device prompted a bomb squad response — only for police to discover it was a $350 adult toy.
Witnesses reportedly saw a man place a package in a trash can near a fire station on Wisconsin Avenue on August 12. The object was described as a blue-and-black electronic device with exposed wires, raising concerns that it could be dangerous.
Authorities closed the road in both directions while the Metropolitan Police Department’s bomb squad and K-9 unit investigated the package.
After examining the device, officers determined it posed no threat. Police described it as an “electronic sex portable pump device.”
Images later circulated online, where users identified the object as a Zolo Blowbot, an adult toy that sells for around $350.
The road was reopened after nearly two hours, ending a morning disruption caused by what initially appeared to be a potentially dangerous package.
