A California judge has accused Amazon of price-fixing, with Attorney General Rob Bonta claiming the company pressured vendors to raise prices across the market.
According to the filing, Amazon allegedly worked with brands like Levi Strauss & Co. and retailers such as Walmart to align pricing, including a case where Levi’s was asked to push Walmart to increase the price of khaki pants.
The lawsuit also references companies like Home Depot, Target, Best Buy, Hanes, and Chewy.
Bonta argues that Amazon used its dominance to prevent lower prices elsewhere, contributing to rising costs for consumers. The case is set to go to trial in January 2027.
Amazon has denied the claims, calling them an attempt to distract from a weak case and maintaining that it remains one of the lowest-priced online retailers.
