Publicly shared conversations from Anthropic's Claude AI briefly appeared in Google Search, allowing anyone to browse hundreds of AI chats covering everything from coding help to highly personal requests.

The issue was discovered after a Reddit user found that specific Google searches surfaced large numbers of shared Claude conversations. Although the chats were not private or hacked, many users were unaware that conversations shared through Claude's built-in sharing feature could also be indexed by search engines.

Users who explored the indexed pages uncovered a wide variety of prompts, including creative writing, legal questions, cryptocurrency wallet setups that exposed sensitive information, and unusual roleplay requests. One user even asked Claude for guidance on becoming a mythical nine-tailed fox through meditation and visualization.

Claude conversations are private by default and only become shareable when a user generates a public link. The controversy centered on Google indexing those shared pages, making them discoverable by anyone searching for them.

Google has since removed the indexed Claude conversations from its search results, and the search queries that previously surfaced them no longer return results.
