Coca-Cola has unveiled updated Coke can designs as part of a sweeping global brand refresh that will extend across packaging, vending machines, retail displays and digital platforms.

Announced on July 20, the redesign aims to create a more consistent brand identity across more than 200 markets while preserving Coca-Cola's signature red-and-white colors, Spencerian script logo, Dynamic Ribbon and Arden Square.

"This refresh is about being clearer and more consistent in how we show up, wherever people experience our brand," said Coca-Cola Global Category President Arnab Roy.

Branding agency JKR developed the new visual identity, while design studio The Superultrarare redesigned the packaging system, according to Transform magazine.

Coke Zero Sugar gets the biggest update

The most noticeable changes are reserved for Coca-Cola Zero Sugar, with much larger "Zero Sugar" lettering on cans and a bold black Dynamic Ribbon. Plastic bottles will also feature black caps to help shoppers distinguish them from regular Coke.

Rather than introducing a new logo, Coca-Cola said the goal is to make its different products feel more unified while strengthening the brand's most recognizable visual elements.

Rapha Abreu of Coca-Cola told Creative Bloq the objective was straightforward: "Make Coca-Cola more Coca-Cola, everywhere."

The refresh follows the company's 2021 global rebrand, which introduced the "Real Magic" campaign and the curved "Hug" logo.

The new packaging is already rolling out across Latin America, Europe, the Middle East and Asia, while a North American launch date has not yet been announced.
