A Florida man was arrested for driving under the influence after his mother reportedly contacted police because she saw YouTube videos in which he appeared intoxicated and was allegedly making threats.
Thomas Leininger, 37, was arrested in Vero Beach on August 23. His mother reportedly asked police to check on him after watching his videos and told officers she believed he was near Riverside Park.
Police initially failed to locate him there, but an officer later spotted a silver Chevrolet Tahoe making an illegal U-turn and followed it to a gas station. The driver identified himself as Leininger.
According to police, Leininger appeared unsteady, had red and glassy eyes, and smelled strongly of alcohol. When officers asked whether he had been drinking, he reportedly said he had “only had a few shots.”
Officers conducted field sobriety exercises and said Leininger struggled to maintain his balance and follow instructions. While being transported to jail, he allegedly told police he had been taking shots throughout the day.
Breath tests later recorded alcohol levels of 0.151 and 0.154, according to the police report.
Leininger was cited for driving under the influence. On September 15, he pleaded no contest and was ordered to pay court costs and a $1,000 fine.
