A Florida man is facing charges in a multi-county retail theft case after authorities say he used 99-cent taco seasoning packets to steal trading card bundles from Target stores.

Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier announced the arrest of 39-year-old Keith Wallis of Palm Beach, who prosecutors allege carried out dozens of thefts between July 2025 and February 2026 across multiple locations.

Investigators say Wallis picked up large boxes of trading cards along with matching quantities of taco seasoning packets, then used self-checkout to scan and pay only for the seasoning while leaving with the higher-value cards.

Officials estimate the scheme involved around 75 incidents, caused more than $10,000 in losses, and generated nearly $40,000 through online resales.

Wallis has been charged with organized retail theft, dealing in stolen property, and money laundering. If convicted on all counts, he could face up to 90 years in prison.
