A 67-year-old Florida man has been arrested after allegedly chasing a woman he met on Tinder and crashing into her car because he believed she had scammed him out of money.
According to authorities, David Allen O’Brien matched with a 21-year-old woman on Tinder while looking for a "sugar baby" and allegedly promised to pay her $1,000 per date. After giving her $800 during their first meeting, O’Brien reportedly claimed he had been scammed and demanded his money back.
Police say O’Brien pursued the woman and her friends in his vehicle before crashing into their car, which was carrying four people. After the collision, he allegedly confronted one of the passengers, pointed a handgun at him, and threatened to shoot before officers arrived and arrested him.
O’Brien has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and aggravated battery. He is scheduled to appear in court on August 14. If convicted, he could face up to 15 years in prison on the assault charge, along with additional penalties for the battery charge.
