A Florida man has been charged after allegedly attempting to steal a medical helicopter following a highway crash that left two people seriously injured.

Riley Ferrer, 28, was driving on Interstate 75 near Tampa when his truck reportedly veered off the road and struck another vehicle, causing it to flip into a wooded area nearby.

Emergency crews responded to the scene, and a BayFlight medical helicopter landed on the closed highway to transport the injured victims. Authorities say that after the patients were loaded onto the aircraft, Ferrer ran past first responders and attempted to enter the helicopter, apparently intending to take off.

According to Fox 13 News, Ferrer later told investigators he had seen the Antichrist shortly before the crash.

He was transported to Tampa General Hospital, where deputies reportedly had to physically escort him inside and keep him seated. After being medically cleared, he was taken to the Hernando County Detention Center, where authorities say he continued resisting officers.

The Hernando County Sheriff’s Office charged Ferrer with three counts of resisting an officer without violence and one count of burglary.
