A Florida teen was arrested after police say a domestic argument with her mother escalated into a physical confrontation involving a pork chop in Jensen Beach.
According to a police report, deputies with the Martin County Sheriff’s Office responded to a home on January 22 after receiving a call about a verbal dispute. The teen was identified as 18-year-old Farrah Kernan, who authorities say had been drinking earlier in the day before the situation intensified.
Kernan’s mother, Cynthia Ann Kernan, told deputies that her daughter struck her in the face. A friend at the residence recorded video of the incident, which police say shows Kernan hitting her mother, causing her to recoil. Investigators also reported seeing food residue on Cynthia’s shoulder, consistent with her claim that a pork chop had been thrown at her beforehand.
When questioned, deputies said Kernan appeared confused, gave inconsistent statements, and later became emotional and uncooperative. Based on the video, physical evidence, and witness accounts, authorities said there was probable cause to charge her with domestic battery. She was taken into custody and booked into the Martin County Jail without further incident.
