France and Saudi Arabia are moving forward with a $7 billion Dragon Ball Z-inspired theme park complex near Paris after French President Emmanuel Macron and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman reportedly bonded over their shared interest in the anime.
The agreement was announced by the Élysée Palace on August 24 during Mohammed bin Salman’s visit to Paris. The €6 billion development is planned for the Cergy-Pontoise area northwest of the French capital and is expected to create around 22,000 jobs.
Saudi entertainment and investment group Qiddiya will finance the project, which is expected to include three separate theme parks. Details about individual attractions and rides have not yet been revealed.
French officials said the idea began taking shape after Macron and the Saudi crown prince discovered their mutual enthusiasm for Dragon Ball Z during Macron’s 2025 trip to Saudi Arabia.
Macron described the project as one of France’s most ambitious entertainment developments since Disneyland Paris, saying the three parks could transform Cergy-Pontoise into a new international destination.
No opening date has been announced, and construction is expected to take several years as key elements of the development are still being finalized.
Qiddiya is also building a separate Dragon Ball theme park in Saudi Arabia. That 500,000-square-meter project is planned to feature seven themed areas, more than 30 attractions, and a 70-meter-tall Shenron roller coaster.
