Free GTA 6 T-shirts handed out at Tokyo Game Show 2026 are already appearing on resale platforms for more than $200.
The limited shirts were given to attendees who experienced an immersive GTA 6 presentation at the PlayStation booth, featuring haptic effects and surround sound. Demand quickly overwhelmed the event, with large crowds forming around the booth and organizers reportedly closing access after just 10 minutes.
The merchandise soon began appearing online. Before the event’s public days had even started, shirts were reportedly listed on Japanese marketplace Mercari for more than 12,000 yen, or roughly $76.
Prices climbed even higher on eBay, where listings surpassed $200. According to Dexerto, one Osaka-based reseller sold two of the free shirts for $219.99 each.
The rush for limited merchandise also affected other parts of Tokyo Game Show. Red Bull reportedly suspended distribution of promotional metal tumblers after overcrowding raised safety concerns, while merchandise connected to other gaming franchises also appeared on resale platforms.
The GTA 6 shirts highlight how free, event-exclusive merchandise can quickly become valuable collectibles when demand significantly exceeds supply.
