Google has officially completed its $32 billion acquisition of cybersecurity firm Wiz, marking the largest deal in the company’s history. The purchase, first announced last year, is aimed at strengthening Google’s cloud business.
Google said Wiz will become part of Google Cloud at a time when AI is increasing the importance of cloud security. The company’s platform helps organizations monitor and protect data across multiple cloud providers.
In announcing the closing of the deal, Google noted that businesses and governments are rapidly moving critical systems to the cloud while adopting faster software development cycles. At the same time, attackers are increasingly using AI to launch more sophisticated cyber threats.
Despite the acquisition, Wiz will continue operating as a multicloud platform, meaning its security tools will remain available on other major cloud services, including Amazon and Microsoft.
Wiz CEO Assaf Rappaport said the company’s mission remains unchanged: protecting the systems and infrastructure organizations build and operate.
