Apple has introduced a new Find My feature in iOS 27 that allows iPhone users to temporarily hide their location from specific people they normally share it with.
The feature is designed for users who want a short period of privacy without permanently turning off location sharing or removing someone from Find My.
For people already sharing their location indefinitely, iOS 27 adds a new “Hide Location” option inside the People section of Find My.
When activated, location sharing with that person is paused for 12 hours. During that time, users can restore sharing manually at any point by selecting “Unhide Location.”
If no action is taken, the previous sharing settings automatically return once the 12-hour period ends.
The person whose access has been paused does not receive a notification. If they check Find My during that period, the app simply displays “No Location Found.”
The feature could be useful when users want to keep their whereabouts private temporarily, such as while planning a surprise for a family member, friend, or partner.
iOS 27 also expands Apple’s temporary location-sharing controls.
Previously, users could share their location for one hour, until the end of the day, or indefinitely. The new version adds a custom option that lets users choose an exact duration using days, hours, and minutes.
Temporary sharing can now last as little as 15 minutes, and users can also select a specific date and time for location sharing to end.
The update is part of a broader set of Find My changes arriving with iOS 27, giving users more control over who can see their location and for how long.
