Japanese energy company ENEOS has gone viral after unveiling a luxury “high-rise” apartment for cats built from nearly 100 cardboard boxes, complete with working lights and heated floors.

Created to celebrate Japan’s Cat Day on February 22, the four-story structure stands 2.3 meters (7.5 feet) tall and features a scratching post entrance, spiral staircase, and rooftop garden. The heated flooring is designed to keep cats warm during winter.

The installation, valued at around 6,000 yen (about $39), was constructed using 98 boxes and is being showcased at the Tokyo Wave Line venue from February 19 to 22, where visitors can even bring their own cats to explore it.

ENEOS also released a promotional video narrated by voice actor Yuki Kaiji. The company noted that households with pets typically consume about 20% more energy and suggested heated pet housing as a way to improve efficiency while keeping animals comfortable.
