Jeff Bezos believes AI will create more jobs than it eliminates.
Speaking at the VivaTech conference in Paris, Bezos rejected the idea that AI will make people redundant. Instead, he argued that the technology will unlock innovation, create new businesses, and increase demand for builders, creators, and entrepreneurs.
"I totally disagree with this point of view," Bezos said regarding fears of mass unemployment. "I think, in fact, AI is going to create a labor shortage."
According to Bezos, humanity is not limited by ideas but by the ability to turn those ideas into reality. He believes AI will dramatically accelerate that process, making it easier for people to build products, launch companies, and bring inventions to market.
"We have an endless set of things to invent," Bezos said. "We are limited not by our imaginations but by what we can actually do."
His comments come as concerns about AI-driven job losses continue to grow. A recent Reuters/Ipsos poll found that roughly half of Americans worry AI could threaten jobs and household incomes.
Bezos sees the opposite outcome. He argues that as AI lowers barriers to creation, more ideas will become viable, leading to greater demand for skilled people who can build and execute.
The billionaire also highlighted AI's potential role in space exploration. He suggested that future advances could help move heavy industry off Earth by making space travel cheaper and enabling the use of resources from asteroids, the Moon, and other nearby objects.
"If we can accelerate the dream-build loop, all of the ideas will then become possible," Bezos said. "And then we end up being limited not by our capabilities, but by our imaginations."
