A truck carrying roughly 11,000 pounds of KitKat bars overturned on a Mississippi interstate, leading to traffic disruptions and an unexpected response from the candy brand itself.
The accident occurred on May 25 near the Highway 80 interchange with Interstate 20 in Brandon, Mississippi. Authorities closed parts of the roadway while crews worked to remove the overturned trailer and recover its cargo. No injuries were reported.
Photos from the scene showed boxes of KitKat bars scattered around the truck, including what appeared to be strawberry-flavored varieties.
After images of the crash spread online, KitKat's official X account joined the conversation with a joke referencing its famous slogan.
“We have breaking news about ANOTHER KitKat truck. We need a break…” the company posted, while also noting that nobody was injured in the accident.
The post quickly gained traction online, with thousands of users reacting to the brand's lighthearted response. The incident also revived memories of another recent KitKat-related story involving the theft of a large shipment of the chocolate bars.
