A new lawsuit against Elon Musk’s xAI claims its chatbot Grok was used to generate sexualized deepfake images involving three minors, which the complaint describes as child abuse material.
The proposed class action, filed in a California federal court, accuses the company of failing to implement standard safety guardrails and profiting from harmful misuse of its technology.
The lawsuit argues that most AI companies introduced protections to prevent such abuse, but alleges xAI did not.
Representatives for Musk and xAI have not responded to requests for comment.
Musk previously stated he was unaware of any underage explicit images being generated by Grok, saying there were “literally zero,” and noted that the system creates images based on user prompts.
