A DIY creator has gone viral after building an AI-powered machine that detects pigeons on a roof and sprays them with water automatically.

The invention, shared on Reddit’s SideProject community, combines a camera, AI object recognition, and a modified water gun to keep birds away from unwanted areas.

According to the creator, the system uses a neural network connected to a USB camera to identify pigeons in real time. Once detected, two servo motors automatically aim the attached water gun and fire at the bird, forcing it to fly away.

The builder revealed that the project was made using simple components, including a USB camera, servo motors, and a battery-powered toy water gun.

The video quickly gained attention online, with many users saying they would buy the device themselves to deal with pigeons, squirrels, and other animals around their homes.

The creator also noted that the AI system uses “open vocabulary object detection,” meaning it can be trained to recognize and target almost any object — not just pigeons.
