A 23-year-old man in Poland faces up to eight years in prison after allegedly using massive food orders to harass unsuspecting victims.
Police say the suspect placed unpaid cash-on-delivery orders using other people’s personal information. One order was worth more than 37,000 złoty, roughly $10,000, while another requested 300 pizzas from a single restaurant.
The restaurant was unable to prepare such a large order and ultimately cancelled it.
Investigators say the alleged harassment went beyond unwanted deliveries. Some orders reportedly included personal information about the victims along with threats involving kidnapping, arson, and deliberately causing traffic accidents.
The orders were sent to addresses across several Polish cities, including Warsaw, Kraków, Wrocław, and Szczecin. Authorities said some of the targeted individuals were public figures working in politics and the media.
Police arrested the 23-year-old at his home and seized electronic devices and data-storage equipment believed to be connected to the case.
He has been placed in pre-trial detention for two months while the investigation continues. Authorities have not yet established a motive.
