A man discovered nearly 2TB of RAM potentially worth around $12,000 inside an old server his workplace had allowed him to take home.
The server contained 30 Samsung 64GB DDR4-2666 registered ECC memory modules, giving him a combined 1,920GB of RAM.
He shared photos of the find on the Linus Tech Tips subreddit, saying the components had been sitting in his garage after he brought the retired work server home.
Comparable 64GB server RAM modules are currently listed online for roughly $400 to $450 each, putting the potential value of the 30-stick collection at more than $12,000.
However, the memory is registered ECC RAM designed for servers and professional workstations, meaning it is not compatible with most standard consumer PCs.
The estimated value also depends on the condition of the modules, as the owner did not confirm whether all 30 sticks had been tested and were fully functional.
The poster, who indicated he is based in Australia, received multiple offers from commenters interested in buying some of the RAM, though he did not say whether he planned to sell it.
