A New Jersey man is suing Jersey Mike’s, Grubhub, and a delivery driver after allegedly discovering the driver's dentures inside his cheesesteak sandwich.
While food delivery has become increasingly common, issues such as missing items, cold meals, and incorrect orders remain frequent complaints. In rare cases, customers have reported finding unexpected objects in their food, leading to legal action.
According to the New York Post, Fernando Rodriguez ordered a cheesesteak from Jersey Mike’s in April 2025 and claims he found the delivery driver's dentures wrapped inside the order.
Court documents state that Rodriguez suffered "extreme shock, disgust, emotional distress, nausea, loss of appetite, and physical revulsion" after allegedly discovering the dentures embedded in the sandwich.
The lawsuit accuses delivery driver Theresa Gildea of tampering with the food, while alleging Jersey Mike’s failed to properly package and seal the order. Grubhub is also accused of negligent hiring and training practices.
Grubhub told the New York Post that Gildea is no longer contracted to deliver through the platform and said it was "troubled" by the allegations.
Local police also investigated the incident, interviewing both the delivery driver and the Jersey Mike’s franchise owner.
The lawsuit remains ongoing, and the allegations have not yet been proven in court.
