Huawei’s luxury car brand, Maextro, has just unveiled its first model, the S800, in China. The starting price is approximately $97,500 (RMB 708,000), and it can increase to $141,600 (RMB 1,018,000) for the top-tier Extended Range Star Executive Edition.
Developed in collaboration with JAC, the S800 aims to rival the likes of Rolls-Royce and Maybach. Stretching nearly 5.5 meters long with a 3.37-meter wheelbase, it boasts a striking fastback-inspired design. Buyers can choose from six exterior colors, including four two-tone options, and select from three wheel designs that range up to 21 inches.
Inside, the S800 is all about luxury, featuring semi-aniline leather, elegant wood trim, and sparkling crystal accents. The front cabin showcases a triple-screen setup, including a 12.3-inch display for the driver, a 15.6-inch center screen powered by HarmonyOS, and a 16-inch screen for the passenger. Plus, there’s a large AR head-up display, dual wireless chargers, and heated, ventilated, massaging seats that can be adjusted in 18 different ways for the driver.
Passengers in the back are treated to even more opulence with zero-gravity seats, tray tables, a wine cooler, and an optional 40-inch projector screen that doubles as a privacy divider. The "Starry Night" LED headliner adds a touch reminiscent of Rolls-Royce.
For audio enthusiasts, the S800 offers up to 43 speakers in its high-end versions, delivering a whopping 2920W of 7.5.10 surround sound through the Huawei Sound Ultimate system, even incorporating speakers into the seat cushions for an immersive experience.
Under the hood, the S800 comes in both pure electric and extended-range EV options. The pure EV variant can produce up to 390kW and offers a range of 702 km on the CLTC cycle, with ultra-fast charging that takes just 12 minutes to go from 10% to 80%. The extended-range models combine a 1.5L turbo engine with up to three motors, providing an EV-only range of up to 400 km and a total range exceeding 1100 km.
Huawei’s latest ADS 4 system supports advanced autonomous driving, featuring four lidar units and 32 sensors for complete self-driving capabilities. Other standout tech features include rear-wheel steering for easier maneuvering in tight spaces, matrix laser headlights with customizable projections, gesture controls for privacy-tinting windows, and even doors that open automatically when you point at them.
Passengers also enjoy removable touchscreen controllers, ambient lighting, and clever storage solutions—including dedicated trays for drinks or flowers. All in all, the Maextro S800 blends cutting-edge technology, lavish comfort, and striking design to challenge Europe’s most exclusive luxury brands—at a price that significantly undercuts the likes of Rolls-Royce and Maybach.
