Meta has unveiled new $1,300 VR glasses designed to combine entertainment, work, gaming, and communication in a single wearable device.

The Meta VR Glasses feature a 5K micro-OLED display with Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos, while weighing just 100 grams. Meta says the device can create multiple private virtual screens, transform a flat surface into a keyboard and touchpad, and let users continue seeing their surroundings through full-color passthrough.

Entertainment is a major focus. The glasses support 3D movies and IMAX Enhanced experiences, effectively creating a personal virtual cinema. Disney+ is also expected to offer selected 3D movies, while a separate Disney Immersive Cinema app will provide enhanced versions of major films.

Meta is also introducing hologram calling. The feature creates a photorealistic digital version of the user that mirrors facial expressions in real time and can appear during calls on platforms such as WhatsApp and Zoom.

Gaming will include more than 75 titles designed around hand gestures at launch, alongside hundreds of additional games available through Xbox Cloud Gaming.

Sports fans will also be able to virtually attend live events. Meta plans to offer more than 100 immersive U.S. sporting events each year through partnerships involving MLB, NBC Sports, TNT Sports, UFC, and others.

Battery life is rated at up to three hours of continuous high-resolution media playback.

Meta describes the VR Glasses as its most advanced device yet. They are expected to launch in spring 2027 for $1,299.99.
