Microsoft shuts down its AI Discord server

Microsoft first blocked the word “Microslop” in its official Copilot Discord server, but eventually shut down the entire server after spam spiraled out of control.

The backlash stems from Microsoft’s aggressive AI rollout across Windows 11 and Office, along with CEO Satya Nadella’s call to fully embrace AI. Critics argue the integration hurts performance and usability, and the nickname “Microslop” began trending online.

Users quickly bypassed the server’s word filter by altering the spelling, flooding channels with spam. Microsoft gradually restricted messaging before temporarily locking the server altogether, saying it needed stronger safeguards to prevent harmful disruption.

The term continues circulating across social media, and Microsoft has not announced when the Discord server will reopen.
