A man has been arrested nearly nine years after a woman was pushed into the path of a London bus in a case that became one of the UK's most widely shared unsolved incidents.
The event occurred on Putney Bridge in May 2017, when CCTV footage appeared to show a jogger shoving a 33-year-old woman into the road directly in front of an approaching bus. The driver managed to swerve and avoid a collision, and the woman escaped with minor injuries.
The Metropolitan Police confirmed that a 44-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of attempted grievous bodily harm on June 15. He was taken into custody as part of an ongoing investigation into the incident.
The case gained international attention after video of the encounter was released, with the unidentified suspect becoming known online as the “Putney Pusher.” Despite years of investigation, including multiple arrests and interviews, no one had been charged and the case was effectively dormant after 2018.
According to reports, the newly arrested suspect is a wealthy banker and former British Army serviceman. Authorities have not publicly identified him, and no charges have been filed at this stage.
Police say the investigation remains active and inquiries are continuing.
