MrBeast has unveiled one of his largest humanitarian projects yet, spending nearly $10 million to build a self-sustaining village in Ghana designed to help children leave illegal labor on cacao farms and gain access to education.
Named Abna Dakwa Village, the project took around a year of development followed by eight months of construction. Built on previously empty land, the community provides housing, clean drinking water, education, healthcare, and other essential infrastructure.
At the center of the village is a school designed for more than 300 students. The project also includes 10 free homes for relocated teachers, a medical clinic, a community marketplace, water towers, and agricultural facilities.
To help keep children in school rather than working on cacao farms, students will receive free daily meals for five years with support from The Rockefeller Foundation.
The community is powered by an off-grid solar system installed with support from the Global Energy Alliance and includes thousands of gallons of clean-water storage.
MrBeast also connected the project to his Feastables chocolate brand and used the initiative to criticize child labor within the global cacao industry, calling on major chocolate companies and consumers to pay closer attention to sourcing practices.
The village was developed with several partner organizations, while creators from around the world traveled to Ghana to participate in its construction as part of the 1 Billion Acts of Kindness campaign.
