MrBeast has taken part in building a real SpaceX rocket after installing a heat-shield tile on a Starship vehicle that is expected to fly to space. The moment appeared in his latest video, $1 vs $1,000,000,000 Futuristic Tech!, filmed inside a SpaceX production facility.
During the visit, MrBeast toured the Starship factory, spoke with SpaceX engineers, and got a behind-the-scenes look at how the company is mass-producing its next-generation spacecraft using an assembly-line approach aimed at supporting frequent missions to the Moon and Mars.
Engineers explained that each Starship is covered with around 18,000 lightweight ceramic heat-shield tiles designed to protect the vehicle during atmospheric reentry. After a live demonstration showing the tile’s heat resistance, SpaceX allowed MrBeast to do something typically reserved for trained technicians: install a real tile onto a Starship fin.
SpaceX staff said the tile he installed counts as flight hardware, meaning it will stay on the vehicle and could go to space if the rocket launches. After successfully fitting the tile, MrBeast signed it, joking that any failure would be the fault of artificial intelligence.
The visit also underscored the scale of SpaceX’s ambitions, with Starship designed to be fully reusable and capable of carrying up to 100 people per launch as part of the company’s long-term goal of making humanity multi-planetary.
