Elon Musk has donated $5 million to support Vivek Ramaswamy's campaign for Ohio governor, despite the pair's widely reported split during their time leading the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).
The contribution, disclosed in a campaign finance filing published Wednesday, was made in May to V-PAC, the super PAC backing Ramaswamy.
Musk and Ramaswamy, both former Republican presidential candidates, were chosen by President Donald Trump to jointly lead DOGE. However, Ramaswamy exited the initiative on Trump's inauguration day, with reports suggesting tensions between the two. Ramaswamy denied claims of a falling-out, saying they simply had "different and complementary approaches."
Soon after leaving DOGE, Ramaswamy launched his campaign for Ohio governor and received endorsements from both Musk and Trump. He secured the Republican nomination in May and will face Democratic candidate Amy Acton in a closely watched election.
Although Musk said he would scale back his political spending after leaving DOGE in 2025, he has continued to fund Republican candidates, including his latest multimillion-dollar donation to support Ramaswamy.
