Nvidia and Microsoft are reportedly in talks to participate in OpenAI’s next major funding round, which could raise up to $50 billion and push the company’s valuation beyond $800 billion.

Sources familiar with the discussions say Amazon and SoftBank may also join the round, building on their previous investments. OpenAI CEO Sam Altman has been meeting with potential backers in the Middle East as the company seeks additional capital, highlighting the growing global interest in artificial intelligence.

For Nvidia and Microsoft, both long-term partners of OpenAI, the investment would deepen their strategic relationship with one of the most influential players in AI. Microsoft provides the cloud infrastructure for OpenAI’s models, while Nvidia supplies much of the computing hardware.

The fundraising comes amid intensifying competition in the AI sector. Rival startup Anthropic recently raised $20 billion, reaching a valuation of around $350 billion. As major tech firms and global investors compete for exposure to the next wave of AI growth, OpenAI’s round could become one of the largest private financings in tech history.
