A leather jacket worn and signed by Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang has sold for $960,000 at a Sotheby’s auction in New York, far exceeding expectations and highlighting growing demand for AI-related collectibles.
Huang, who co-founded Nvidia in 1993, has become known for his signature black leather jackets, much like Steve Jobs’ turtlenecks. As Nvidia has risen to the center of the AI boom, the jacket has become closely associated with the company’s success and Huang’s public image.
The Tom Ford jacket was expected to sell for around $60,000 but ultimately fetched 16 times that amount. Sotheby’s described it as more than just clothing, calling it a symbol of innovation and the mindset of those willing to embrace new technology before the rest of the world.
The sale has fueled speculation that collectors are increasingly seeking memorabilia tied to the AI revolution. Huang’s jackets have become so recognizable that other tech leaders have sought to own one, with Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg receiving a used jacket from Huang in 2024 and joking that it was worth more because it had already been worn.
