Nvidia has quietly become the leading player in a fast-growing corner of the AI infrastructure market.

In the first quarter of 2026, the company generated $2.1 billion in revenue from data center Ethernet switches, making it the market leader with a 21.5% share. Just two years earlier, Nvidia held only 4% of the market.

The surge has been driven by Spectrum-X, Nvidia's networking platform that tightly integrates with its AI chips. By offering businesses a complete AI infrastructure solution, Nvidia has overtaken established networking companies such as Arista Networks, Cisco, Huawei, and HPE.

According to IDC, the data center Ethernet switch market reached $10 billion in Q1 2026, growing 61% year over year. Analysts say Nvidia's rapid rise represents one of the biggest shifts the enterprise networking industry has seen in years.

Networking has become an increasingly important part of Nvidia's AI business. CEO Jensen Huang recently said Spectrum-X is now larger than all other Ethernet networking competitors combined, while the company's broader networking revenue tripled to $15 billion over the past year.
