OpenAI and Anthropic are escalating the AI competition by giving users more free access to their coding tools as both companies race to dominate the enterprise market.

On Wednesday, OpenAI announced two months of free Codex access for companies that sign up within the next 30 days, while Anthropic increased Claude Code usage limits by 50% for paid users until July 13.

The aggressive offers come as AI companies pour billions into growth and compete to lock in developers and corporate customers before rivals do.

Anthropic recently launched new business-focused AI products for finance, legal work, and small businesses, integrating Claude into tools like QuickBooks, PayPal, Microsoft 365, and Google Workspace.

The company says its annualized revenue has already surpassed $30 billion, while the number of customers spending over $1 million per year doubled in just two months.

As the AI arms race intensifies, companies are increasingly shifting from selling chatbots to building full business software ecosystems powered by AI.
