A passenger on an IndiGo flight was detained after trying twice to open the aircraft’s emergency exit mid-journey, later claiming he was “possessed by a ghost.”
The incident occurred on a domestic flight from Bengaluru to Varanasi, where crew and passengers had to step in. According to NDTV, the man first attempted to open the exit shortly after takeoff but was stopped.
He tried again during landing, when the plane was about 500 feet above ground, forcing the pilot to abort the landing and perform a go-around.
The aircraft landed safely, and the passenger was restrained and handed over to authorities. During questioning, he initially couldn’t explain his actions but later said he was unaware of what he was doing, claiming he was under possession.
A case has been filed against him for endangering flight safety.
