Burglars escaped with roughly $180,000 worth of Pokémon cards after tunneling through a wall into a collectibles store in California during an overnight break-in.
According to police, the suspects first entered a neighboring business, then smashed through a shared wall to access DOWE Collectibles in Anaheim. Surveillance video shows them breaking into display cases and grabbing hundreds of high-value cards before fleeing.
Store owner Duy Pham told KTLA he discovered the burglary after receiving a security alert early in the morning. “I saw them coming through the hole,” he said, adding that the thieves appeared to target specific cards while ignoring other merchandise.
More than 500 cards were reportedly taken. Individual rare cards — especially professionally graded ones — can be worth up to $10,000. Authorities say the suspects left in a dark-colored vehicle and the investigation is ongoing.
With some Pokémon cards selling for millions and many modern cards fetching thousands on resale markets, the collectibles have become an increasingly attractive target for theft.
