Sam Altman said he’s “really excited” to put Elon Musk under oath as their legal fight moves toward an April trial, after a California judge ruled in January that the case can proceed.
In a post on X, the OpenAI CEO wrote, “Really excited to get Elon under oath in a few months, Christmas in April!” Altman also reshared a post from his chief security officer, calling aspects of the case “concerning,” including court filings that claimed Musk favored short-retention messaging apps.
The lawsuit, filed by Musk in February 2024, accuses OpenAI and Altman of misleading him into believing the company would remain a nonprofit. Musk says he contributed $38 million as a founder, alongside Altman and Peter Thiel, under that assumption.
The dispute has fueled a long-running public feud, with both men trading attacks on social media, criticizing each other’s AI products and companies. Representatives for both sides declined to comment.
