SpaceX's IPO filing revealed a potential AI infrastructure deal with Anthropic worth up to $40 billion through May 2029, making it one of the company's most eye-catching future revenue streams.

However, Elon Musk has clarified that the agreement is not a long-term commitment. Posting on X, Musk said the arrangement is currently structured as a 180-day lease with mutual 90-day termination rights, meaning either side can exit the deal with notice.

The clarification highlights an important detail in SpaceX's filing. While Anthropic has agreed to purchase access to computing power from SpaceX's Colossus data centers through 2029, the contract allows both parties significant flexibility.

The deal is part of SpaceX's broader effort to position itself as more than a rocket and satellite company, with AI infrastructure emerging as a major business segment.

Musk also suggested that SpaceX could eventually reclaim the computing capacity if demand from his own companies, including xAI and Tesla, increases. He said SpaceX would provide Anthropic with a reasonable transition period if that were to happen but noted that access to computing resources could become increasingly valuable in the future.
