A 20-year-old suspect has been arrested for a Molotov attack on Sam Altman’s home and is facing eight charges, including attempted murder and arson.

He had previously joined a Discord server linked to PauseAI, a group that advocates pausing advanced AI development, but the organization said he had no role and condemned the attack.

Authorities say the suspect fled after setting fire to the property’s gate, then later appeared near OpenAI’s office, where he allegedly made further threats. No injuries were reported.

PauseAI confirmed he had minimal activity in its public server and no involvement in its operations. The group said it banned him after the incident and emphasized that it opposes any form of violence.

The case comes as tensions around AI continue to rise, with growing public concern over its risks, impact on jobs, and influence on society.
