Chinese robotics company Unitree made a massive stock market debut, with its shares surging as much as 629% before closing 460% above their IPO price.

The Hangzhou-based company raised about $904 million and ended its first trading day with a market value of roughly $50 billion. Unitree is best known for its humanoid robots capable of dancing, boxing, backflips, and other complex movements.

The huge debut reflects growing investor excitement around China’s humanoid robotics industry. Chinese companies reportedly accounted for about 97% of global humanoid robot shipments in the first half of 2026, with Unitree holding around 31% of the market.

Despite the enthusiasm, widespread adoption of humanoid robots remains challenging due to limitations in AI, robotic dexterity, and real-world reliability. Unitree also faces US restrictions on certain foreign-made humanoid robots.

The IPO made founder Wang Xingxing significantly wealthier, with his stake valued at around $15.9 billion after the company’s first day of trading.
