US gas prices have surged past $4.22 per gallon, marking their highest level since 2022, according to AAA.

Prices have risen quickly over the past week, jumping from around $4.02 to over $4.22, driven largely by ongoing tensions between the US and Iran. Concerns over disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz—which carries about 20% of global oil supply—have pushed oil markets higher.

As a result, Brent Crude prices have climbed toward $117 per barrel, extending a multi-day rally fueled by uncertainty around supply.

Gas prices vary widely across the US. California is nearing $6 per gallon, while Oklahoma has the lowest average at around $3.66.

Analysts warn that delays in restoring stable oil supply could keep prices elevated longer than expected, especially if geopolitical tensions continue to escalate.
