X is testing a dislike button again soon

X has started testing a dislike button for posts, with head of product Nikita Bier showcasing how it works.

Since Elon Musk acquired Twitter for $44 billion in 2022 and rebranded it to X, the platform has introduced major changes—from paid verification and creator monetization to Community Notes and new messaging features.

Now, the platform is quietly testing dislikes with select users. The feature, first rolled out on March 17, allows users to flag posts for reasons like spam, misinformation, AI-generated content, or simply lack of interest. Users can also report posts directly, potentially leading to account limits or suspensions.

Bier suggested the move could significantly reduce spam incentives on the platform. While X previously tested a similar feature in 2024, it never launched widely—so it remains unclear when or if this version will roll out to all users.
