A female YouTuber in South Korea has been sentenced to 18 months in prison after stabbing a male content creator who rejected her during a livestream.
The incident took place in September 2025 in Bucheon, Gyeonggi Province. The victim was broadcasting online when the attack occurred. While the stabbing itself was not shown on camera, viewers reportedly heard the woman shouting and the streamer reacting after being injured.
Investigators said the woman believed she was in a romantic relationship with the creator and became enraged after he denied they were together.
She was initially sentenced to two and a half years in prison, but an appeals court reduced the punishment to 18 months. Judges noted that she admitted to the crime, appeared to have acted impulsively, and paid compensation to the victim.
The victim suffered stab wounds to the abdomen but was able to defend himself, and his injuries were not considered life-threatening. The court said he continues to experience aftereffects and had requested a severe punishment.
