A YouTuber has taken the idea of “new year, new me” to an extreme, livestreaming himself 24/7 in complete isolation for an entire year in an effort to reset his mindset and lose weight.
The creator, who goes by Skip, launched the project—called The Isolation Year—on January 10, 2026. Since then, he has been broadcasting nonstop from a self-contained home office equipped with a bed, bathroom, and workout space.
Skip first announced the challenge in a community post in December 2025, explaining that the goal is to discipline both his mind and body by removing distractions and excuses. He said the constant livestream would keep him accountable, forcing consistency in his routine.
In his post, Skip outlined strict rules for the year, including no in-room visitors, no breaks from the camera, and a focus on structured habits like scheduled sleep, daily workouts, journaling, and honest weight tracking. His fitness goals include walking 15,000 steps per day on a walking pad and eventually adding indoor rock-climbing training.
During a preview stream, Skip showed viewers the room where he will spend the year, noting that multiple cameras allow audiences to watch his daily activities from different angles. Supplies such as food and toiletries are delivered through a closet door to avoid direct contact with anyone.
Skip has said the project is being funded through his personal savings, income from his small business, and his wife’s salary as a registered nurse, acknowledging that his family will need to live frugally during the experiment.
As of now, his channel has more than 4,000 subscribers, with viewers closely following to see whether he can complete the full year of isolation. While unusual, Skip is not alone in attempting nonstop livestreams, as other creators have run continuous broadcasts for years.
