Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg is reportedly developing an AI assistant to help carry out his own responsibilities as the company expands its use of AI.

According to The Wall Street Journal, the internal “CEO agent” is being built as a personal AI system that can handle tasks and retrieve information more efficiently. While still in development, it’s already being used to quickly access answers that would typically require input from multiple employees.

The project reflects Meta’s broader shift toward AI-driven operations as it competes with emerging AI-native companies. Zuckerberg previously said the goal is to boost productivity, reduce layers of management, and empower individual contributors.

AI tools are now deeply integrated into daily work at Meta, even influencing performance reviews. Employees are using personal AI agents that can access files, chats, and coordinate tasks, with some comparing the environment to the company’s early “move fast” culture.

One internal tool, “Second Brain,” functions like an AI chief of staff, helping organize and query project data. Meta has also expanded its AI efforts through acquisitions and new engineering teams focused on accelerating AI development across the company.
